BIOGRAPHY

Dr John Chinegwundoh is a Respiratory Physician with over 25+ years medical experience in respiratory medicine, providing first class care to patients for a variety of conditions and complaints.

Born in London, Dr John Chinegwundoh completed his secondary education at Dulwich College before winning a place to read Medicine at Cambridge University. After a period of study, Dr Chinegwundoh graduated with a 1st class honours degree winning the highly prestigious Albert Hopkinson Prize for Medicine at Emmanuel College.

Before becoming a Consultant, Dr Chinegwundoh held a variety of posts throughout his training, helping him to obtain a wide spectrum of clinical experience. In 2004 he became a Consultant Respiratory Physician at Kingston Hospital before then being appointed as a Senior Chest Consultant in 2009. In 2013 he furthered his career by being appointed as the Clinical Director for Respiratory Medicine. As recently as 2018 Dr Chinegwundoh was promoted to lead various medical departments after being appointed Clinical Director for Medicine at Kingston Hospital.

Throughout his career Dr Chinegwundoh has been fortunate to hold positions at many prestigious hospitals. These include the Royal Brompton, Guy’s and St Thomas’, Hammersmith Hospital, The Royal Free Hospital and University College Hospital. As his career progressed Dr Chinegwundoh was keen to expand his knowledge and spent three years on an International Fellowship at the world-renowned Columbia University in New York where he completed his Doctorate degree studying the inflammatory process.

Following on from his Doctorate research studying the immune system and the lungs, Dr Chinegwundoh holds a particularly strong interest in the diagnosis and treatment of Persistent Cough, COPD, Asthma, Interstitial Lung Disease and Respiratory Infections.

In addition to his research and training Dr Chinegwundoh is committed to treating both NHS and private patients covering a wide range of respiratory conditions including asthma, lung cancer, persistent cough, COPD and breathlessness, amongst others. He holds over 25 years experience within his field and currently practices at The New Victoria Hospital, The Lister Hospital, Chelsea Outpatient Centre and Ashtead Hospital.
