Have you been a smoker?
The NHS is rolling out Lung Cancer screening with a target of 2029 to cover the whole country. Any smoker or ex-smoker, aged 55-74, who has smoked at least the equivalent of 20 cigarettes a day for 20 years will be eligible. The Government is targeting parts of the country with the highest levels of lung cancer first and patients will be invited to a CT scan with the aim of detecting lung cancer at an early stage, where there’s the best possible chance of treatment and survival. If you smoked in the past you have an increased risk of lung cancer. Get screened! Also, if you are still smoking, it’s never too late to stop. Get help to quit.
